For the long winter this time we have something quite special: the Panzerwrecks Lookalike Contest.
Lookalike Contest? What is that?
It's simple - with this competition we want to go back to the roots of modeling. Modeling is supposed to be a realistic representation of an
original work and extend it in this competition to a whole scene with base plate and possibly figures!
This means that in this competition an original photo will be reproduced as accurately as possible - and in scale of 1/35!
Have a look on the following two images to see what we mean:

Thanks a lot to Sven Frisch for providing these images of his model!
In order to have comparable standards for the contest, these original photographs have to be taken from a book of the Panzerwrecks/Panzertruppen series.
They have a large selection of very special scenes, including many details, and, above all, large-format photos!
If anyone complains that he is now forced to buy all the books of Panzerwrecks, we must say that he is wrong! A purchase of one of the books is not necessary.
It is only important that the picture, which serves as your template, is printed in one of the pranzerwreck issues - whether that is an issue from a friend or whereever ...
If there are any questions just write an email and ask.
The judging takes place after the contest period and will be held by an international jury!
Primarily, the judging will focus on good construction and painting and of course the most accurate implementation of the photo you have chosen as a template for you contribution!
The prizes , are listed below. Many thanks to the sponsors of this competition!
Of course, there will be a variety of prizes to be drawn among those who have not been on the winning ranks. There is therefore every chance to win something, but of course not the profit motive to participate should be, but the fun and experience.
For now, we wish you a lot of fun and success. If you habe any questions, simply apply an email tothomas.hartwig@panzer-modell.de
Before sending your contribution to us, please check if (all criteria below) are fulfilled!
Instructions for submission of photos for the competition:
- The scale of the model / Vignette / scene is 1:35
- ALL images published in one of the books from the Panzerwrecks series can be used as a template.
- The model may not be published elsewhere (internet, print media, etc.) before the end of the contest!
- Only 1 model / vignette per modeller is allowed for the contest.
- Concerning the pictures: Please keep yourselves to the values and standards!:
- The following photos are compulsory: A few pictures documenting the construction and the painting process of the model / Vignette, about 10 total views of the finished model, 2-5 detailed photos of the finished model.
VERY IMPORTANT: At least one photo of the finished model has to be as accurately as possible from the same angle as the original photo!
- Light up the models well - at best daylight, because the result is a decent depth of field
- Take a stand if necessary, to avoid blurred or fuzzy pictures.
- Pictures which are blurred or out of focus, only in some areas sharply, too dark, with intense color cast or too small, have little chance of being one of the top places!
- For tips on model photography, we recommend the following contribution: Model Photography
- Also please send a text file by specifying the number and page of the Panzerwrecks issue which you have used for the template, as well as your name, address and email-address.
- The last date of submission: 30.04.2010
- The decision is final
HAVE FUN and GOOD LUCK!
